A weekend of stimulating dialog for intriguing for international minds which cover historians, journalists, novelists, film makers and biographers. Bob Geldof will be one of the main writers & speakers present over the weekend.

Just 7-8 minute drive to to Borris from Graiguenamanagh. The festival runs from the Friday 8th of June until Sunday 10th of June 2018.

Taking place over the weekend of 8th to 10th June, the Borris Festival of Writing and Ideas is delighted to announce a new three year sponsorship agreement with The Doyle Collection, the Irish family-owned luxury international hotel Group (The Westbury in Dublin, The Bloomsbury in London and The Dupont Circle in Washington, among others).

The first speakers confirmed to attend the June Festival:

Award winning writers: Donna Tartt, Margaret Atwood, Rachel Kushner, Alan Hollinghurst, Patrick McGrath, Kit de Waal, Elizabeth Strout and Hanan Al-Shaykh. Bob Geldof will give the inaugural Doyle Collection Annual Interview. Historians Ben MacIntyre, Roy Foster and Margaret MacMillan join us in exploring some contemporary global issues.

Music is everywhere – Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones, Guy Pratt (guitarist with David Gilmour, The Smiths etc), Viv Albertine (The Slits), and Iarla Ó Lionáird (The Gloaming). David Dawson will give a talk illustrated by his highly personal photographs of Lucian Freud. Humour comes in the form of the wonderful Deirdre O’Kane, Alison Spittle, Francesca Martinez, and Spitting Image and Not the Nine O’Clock News creators Sean Hardie and John Lloyd (also the brains behind QI)
