The Barrow River
Boat lovers who favor their free time to relax and unwind, spend time cruising up and down the river. The peak season runs from May-October where 80-100 cruisers, motorboats and barges are moored in Graiguenamanagh. To relax and absorb the breathtaking view of nature’s water birds, wildlife and sights is spectacular. In 1999 Graiguenamanagh Regatta Committee, developed their project “The Boat House” which offers facilities for all – public toilets, changing rooms and showers.
The annual Graiguenamanagh River Regatta, which has been run in Graiguenamanagh since 1857 to date, takes place every August Bank Holiday weekend. The event over the past years upholds cot racing, low and high diving competitions and swimming races, which covers all age groups and categories. It is an event which yearly attracts more and more to watch, participate, cheer and admire the skills displayed in all competitive areas passed down through generations. All are welcome to take part in the open races.
An Iron Man competition is open for all to take part in at the river and music entertainment to suit all in the open (weather permitting) and more. This weekend is one not to be missed.

Local Night Life
From the town of 1,800 people, Graiguenamanagh is well endowed with public houses, which has no less than 7 licensed establishments which provide food, live music and a cold beverage.
Many of the pubs provide regular music from jazz to rock throughout the year with weekend discos held in The Globe with music by resident DJ’s. Parties are also available for special occasions that can be held in a number of the local public houses, on the night where food is supplied and served. If thats not your scene many of the pubs provide a more relaxed, sedate atmosphere, ranging from modern, newly furnish bars to old traditional pubs full characters with many a tale to tell.

To relax why not enjoy a game of golf on Carrigleade Golf Course on Barrow Drive just 2 miles outside Graignamanagh. Carrigleade is an 18- hole Par 3 course where lessons and clubs etc are available.
Other courses within a 15-mile radius from Graiguenamanagh include Mount Juliet, Thomastown, Gowran, Scarke, New Ross, which also provides a driving range; all golf courses are well signed for direction.
Edward Hayden Cookery School
Edward Hayden, known to many from his weekly cookery appearances on TV3’s ‘Ireland AM’ has his very own boutique cookery school. The state of the art cookery school, based in his native Graignamanagh in Co. Kilkenny hosts a range of Hayden’s very popular cookery demonstrations as well as hands on tuition, private dining functions, children’s cookery workshops and corporate team building events.
