The Barrow River

Boat lovers who favor their free time to relax and unwind, spend time cruising up and down the river. The peak season runs from May-October where 80-100 cruisers, motorboats and barges are moored in Graiguenamanagh. To relax and absorb the breathtaking view of nature’s water birds, wildlife and sights is spectacular. In 1999 Graiguenamanagh Regatta Committee, developed their project “The Boat House” which offers facilities for all – public toilets, changing rooms and showers.

The annual Graiguenamanagh River Regatta, which has been run in Graiguenamanagh since 1857 to date, takes place every August Bank Holiday weekend. The event over the past years upholds cot racing, low and high diving competitions and swimming races, which covers all age groups and categories. It is an event which yearly attracts more and more to watch, participate, cheer and admire the skills displayed in all competitive areas passed down through generations. All are welcome to take part in the open races.

An Iron Man competition is open for all to take part in at the river and music entertainment to suit all in the open (weather permitting) and more. This weekend is one not to be missed.

On Monday afternoon Graiguenamanagh’s Rowing Club display the admiration, skill and commitment to the rowers as annual races are held in Graiguenamanagh. Rowing Clubs from other counties in Ireland come to take part in this racing event. display the admiration, skill and commitment to the rowers as annual races are held in Graiguenamanagh.
